Monday, May 23rd, 2017. This morning, the Spanish trade union Coordinadora held a General Assembly in Spain. This meeting was held in response to the passing of Royal Decree by the Spanish government to reform the Spanish port system.
After the analysis of the Royal Decree, Coordinadora has prioritised: The development of the implementation of the decree, the guarantee of the subrogation of work, and the negotiation of the national CBA.
With respect to the strike advisory, Coordinadora decided to cancel the first 5 days of strike in order remove further pressure on employers.
IDC will heed this decision and will remain alert- with their full attention- in order to follow new developments of the Spanish situation.
I would like to extend my gratitude to the international dockworkers community and to the individuals who have stood alongside Spanish Dockworkers amidst their struggle to defend their professions.
IDC will continue to support dockworkers everywhere in their struggle, and iterates their steadfast commitment to Coordinadora, who has demonstrated- yet again- strength in unity.
If the working class remains united, they can change the world.
WE WILL NEVER WALK ALONE AGAIN!
